High Adventure Treks

We love adventure!

Our troop will often embark upon a high adventure trek of some kind almost every year. We try to not conflict with national events like Jamboree, so our Scouts can do both if they’d like, but this is often dependent upon the availabilities of the adults and youth which make up the crew(s) going on the trip.

Treks to the four national high adventure bases – Philmont in New Mexico, Northern Tier in Minnesota, Sea Base in Florida, and the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia usually have minimum age requirements of 13-14 years old, depending on the program.

Other treks done by the troop, like privately-outfitted wilderness canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and backpacking on the Ice Age Trail or Porcupine Mountains may have lower age requirements and are often open to any able-bodied Scout or Scouter who wants to come along.
